The Last 100 Days ?

(The Last 100 Days ?)

The Glory that was Rome. Over the centuries that the Empire dominated the Ancient World, it was ruled by some of the most powerful men in History. Caesar, Augustus, the "Five Good Ones." Then came the Crisis of the Third Century and the deliberate decline of what was once the Greatest Empire the world had ever seen. And, when it came to an end, September 4th, A.D. 476, the last Emperor, Romulus Augustulus, was sent into retirement.

Just like President Biden. Augustulus was the terminal ruler of a state that had been in decline for some years and with the various barbarian invasions, in addition to the numerous Roman civil wars, the accumulative pressure ultimately proved fatal to the Empire. And its last Emperor. Just like President Biden. But, unlike the last Emperor, Biden still thinks he has a job still. Biden has suspended his Campaign. However, he is technically still the President.

There are just over 100 days till the next election and ostensibly the last 100 days to the Biden Administration. Vice President Harris has assumed the next in line status but her position has not been confirmed by Party Leadership. There are two camps emerging in this developing power struggle within Democrat hierarchy; former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in support of the "sitting" President and former President Obama and Congressman Hakeem Jefferies (D-NY) and Senator Chuck Schmer (D-NY) have placed their support behind Harris.

It is more than poor poling numbers against Trump that suggested that President Biden step aside. With no path to victory evidently not evident, there was a decrease in the rate of donation. Now that Biden is out and Harris is seen as the alternative, there has emerged a renewed coalescing among Democrats and even some $30 million raised in the immediate aftermath.

That being said, however, this honeymoon will not last long. To coin a common expression "winter is coming" and it will fall to the pro-Kamala or the anti-Kamala factions but to discard the Vice President altogether, she has her own problems against Trump, in the hope that a more palatable ticket, one that would be competitive against Trump, could be determined. at the Democrat Convention next month. The idea, now is to have an open forum to cobble together some alternative but in the end, it probably will not be Biden/Harris or even Harris/X.

This will make the next 100+ days and the next election perhaps the most significant since Ronald Reagan.
