When was the last time one rode a Harley Davidson ? That classic motorcycle that used to spell freedom and rebellion. One never sees a biker gang driving Yamahas. What was the bike on Easy Rider, with Fonda and Hopper doing what they did. But that was then. This is now. Now, it its own attempt to go woke, Harley Davidson took what was an American classic, and in order to build bikes in India, the company had to smooth its rough edges. The CEO is comparing himself to Taliban of all things, and says he wants to re-define capitalism. What does any of this have to do with building the next generation of "Hogs" and re-populate the likes of Sturgis ?


The Harley Davidson story is indicative of the current political environment. If Kamala Harris is elected President, the HD's fortunes will not improve and any plants in India could be its last. But what would happen if Donald Trump is elected ? Probably aware of the value of Harley Davidson, he could offer incentives to bring the company back and restore its glory. With this in mind, however, it would seem that the former President is already picking out the wallpaper for the White House. That might be pre=mature but Trump has already selected his "Transition" team, that is the people responsible for managing the period between Election Day and Inauguration Day.


Trump has selected Linda McMahon, First Lady of Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment and also headed Trump's Small Business Administration. The other is Howard Lutnick is the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald. That was the firm that lost 658 employees when the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. It was largely due to Lutnick's efforts that kept the firm open. Together, McMahon and Lutnick will be the team to usher Trump into his second term. However, there remains the formality of winning the Election.


As this is only mid-August with the Democrat Convention kicking off Monday with a probable bounce for Harris in the aftermath. However, the Trump Campaign will be offering contravening argument Afterwards, come the debates and Trump's sentencing in September, The latter could either depress his support or all but guarantee his winning in a land-slide.


That scenario has yet to play. The time between now and November 5th is an eternity in politics so anything can happen. So, is the former President looking ahead by announcing his transition team ? Or, at this point is it just wishful thinking ?

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops.
