Firstly, one might comment on the Ukrainian attack on Kursk, an incursion into Russian territory. If one will recall, in July 1943, Kursk and its environs was the site of the last German mass efforts in the East and Kursk was also the site of the largest tank battle in history. Other targets included Belgorod and Bryansk, the same theater as the battlefield 81 years ago. For its part, the Kremlin and President Putin have been surprised by the incursion and is having to re-deploy Russian assets to confront the new threat from his own backyard. As Moscoe still has the military advantage, the invasion by Ukraine is significant.

The war in the Ukraine is an issue with which Harris and Walz will have to deal. Among all the questionable policies that the Minnesota Governor has been espousing, like tampons in boys' bathrooms among other oddities, and Harris wants him as VEEP pick ? Another item is Walz service record with the Minnesota National Guard, the outfit that could have intervened in the Minneapolis riots early but the DEI qualities of the personnel was uncertain.

Walz served 24 years the National Guard but resigned just as his battalion received orders to deploy to Iraq. Walz, for his part, left the service at this stage an began his political career Invariably, someone went in his place. Fortunately, his replacement survived the tour. Had he been a casualty ? And that was made public ? Since his selection, Walz has been progressively compromised. Like a death by a thousand cuts or a Chinese water torture, Governor Walz is seeming less attractive.

Three debates have been scheduled between Trump and Harris. There is usually one debate between the Vice-Presidential contenders, Walz and J.D. Vance. In that meeting, the Ohio Senator will have the opportunity to confront Walz and have him explain his absence from Iraq. His actions with the BLM riots, or the lack thereof, that burned Minneapolis. His state's sanctuary status. Everything that will draw the contrast between the Harris-Walz ticket and the Trump-Vance pairing.

In the weeks and months to the Election, with Democrats convening in Chicago on the Nineteenth, formalizing Harris' Coronation, and then the debates, the American people will be educated. Like the 2020 Election and the 2016 Election, 2024 will be the most consequential. The last two cycles were trial runs and in three months, a path will truly diverge in the woods.
