Shooting The Messenger ?

(Shooting The Messenger ?)

The other day, it was remarked how President Trump would need to "refine" his language to come off the insults and the hyperbole. In a move towards that direction, Trump had a two hour interview with Elon Muak on the platform "X." It was a conversation that focused on the economy, on inflation and how the Vice President could not repeat in the same venue. However, there has been a severe backlash from media and government that the discussion even took place.

The site "X," formerly known as Twitter and its ex-head Jack Dorsey, was acquired by Musk a couple pf years ago with the stated goal of opening up the platform. No longer would expression be limited or curtailed. Hence the interview with the former President. That being said, the Musk and Trump talk is seen by some as a threat. Allowing Trump such un-fettered access, the conversation heard by as many as a hundred million people, topics mentioned drew opposition from such disparate institutions from the United Autoworkers, complaining on the topic of dealing with strikes and then the European Union and the British Government, who claimed the interview was in violation of laws against misinformation and there are even threats to sanction Musk, including incarceration.

The British talk funny and drive on the wrong side of the street. But even Perfidious Avalon should know that it has no jurisdiction over Elon Musk or Donald Trump and that each, as free agents, can conduct their affairs independent from outside influences. Those influences would also include the national media who are trying to craft the narrative for Vice President Harris and to have Trump give a no-holds-barred conversation with Musk where he has the opportunity to come off his previous rhetoric and in essence re-start his campaign.

Trump will need more "Musk-Type" interviews to crystalize the race. He will need to add more to the airwaves. He will need to keep holding his rallies without bragging about how big they might be. Trump has policy. Harris has yet to decide. Both will be in North Carolina today and both will lay out their respective economic plans. Trump again will describe the need for tax cuts. Harris, for her part. will promote tax increases and all that will come with it.

Former GOP Presidential Candidate, Nikki Haley has said that Republicans need a strategy shift and stop complaining about Harris and focus on the issues. Donald Trump might have done that with Elon Musk. He could also do it today in North Carolina and see what voters prefer ?
