It has been the period after Labor Day that traditionally people begin to pay attention to politics. The Presidential race begins to crystalize in the consciousness of the body politic. The two candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are vying for position both, have plus and minus aspects to their efforts.


Trump has been saying he is ahead. By "A LOT !" He is not. At best he is tied or Vice President Harris is leading where it counts. It is true that she has become a parrot of the former President and where he is standing but no one is believing she will be keeping those positions once in Office. What one can say is that Donald Trump is not shy. He is in the public almost to the point of monotony. As an example, Trump will be holding a town hall tomorrow on the Hannity program. Could the Vice President deliver in such a venue ?


Would she need one ? Harris is 15 points ahead of Trump with women. She has 225 Electoral College votes compared to Trump's 219. This does not necessarily mean things are a lock for the Vice President. She still needs to distance herself from President Biden. She would still need to "survive" the debate with Trump. For his part, however, Donald Trump could be putting too many eggs in the debate basket. If Harris is able to hold her own, or if Trump has a bad night, gets flustered or something, Harris will have successfully transited her most important hurdle.


Her performance is unknown at the moment. And what happens if Trump is sentenced to jail on the Eighteenth ? Will that re-endure him to voters he has lost over the past weeks, or will it be the long sought after goal by Democrats of incarcerating the former President ? The comment has been made that the "Orange Monster" could be donning an orange jumpsuit.


Only in America. One Presidential candidate is removed for escalating cognitive issues, another thinks she can get elected by promising tax increases and price controls and a third could be about to do time. It is from this rogue's gallery that people are supposed to determine the next leader of the Free World.

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
