One knows the phrase, "Never look a gift horse in the mouth (unless he is a Trojan). The Harris performance in Philadelphia had been superlative because it had to be. In the aftermath, however, certain complaints have arisen that the debate was not fair. That Vice President Harris failed to specific. That the American people were no more informed after the debate than previously. Informing the public was not why she was there.


Harris, along with Muir and Davis, were there to defeat Trump and they did. Where she might be standing on issues, past, present, or future. The debate was a set-up and Trump was compromised because. was unable to parry the attacks. So, mission accomplished. The good guys won. So, what would be the problem ?


Donald Trump is now trailing in fund-raising "by a lot !" He has been losing ground in swing states. He might be on the ground giving press conferences and the occasional interview, but the damage has been done. In 1984, the debate between President Reagan and former Vice President Mondale. when the President said he "would not exploit for political gain the youth and in-experience of his opponent." The election was probably decided right there.


Reagan won 49 states that year and Mondale only carried Minnesota. For her part, Harris might not repeat the Reagan landslide, she won't need to. Just like she does not need further elaboration. If the goal is to elect Harris one can suggest to not watch how the sausage is made. 


So, when Democrat pollster Mark Penn writes an op-ed complaining that moderators Muir and Davis were biased. What part about a debate with Donald Trump is not clear ? There were reasons why the former President was fact-checked five times to Harris' zero. Harris lied on several occasions like a Trump affiliation with the Project 25 Committee and his willingness to endorse a nation-wide abortion ban. Harris addressed comments that a blood bath would result in the event of a Trump loss. And of course, January 6th was mentioned.


Issues it would seem do not matter. People might be sour on the economy but because Donald Trump was un-able to explain things last Tuesday night, because he allowed himself to lose his composure his night was catastrophic. Vice President Harris and those at ABC recognized Trump's threat and acted accordingly. Were they dis-honest ? Yes. They had to be.
