A few days ago, the statement had been made that Donald Trump could not win a close election. The Democrat electoral advantage is such that a Democrat win is almost on automatic. One can envision a scenario where more votes might be cast for Trump, but more ballots could be collected for Harris. That would possibly be the case in a close election. So, Democrats have called on their two main champions, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama to make appearances and rally the faithful.


For her part, Vice President Harris, having just completed a media tour that was problematic, and that has been recognized by the Harris Campaign. The Democrat ticket this time has lost support among traditional constituencies, namely blacks, Hispanics, and union rank and file. At a speech in Pittsburg the other day, President Obama seemed to chastise the audience that he was amazed that former President Trump has that support. That echoes the Biden comment that if you did not vote for him "you ain't black."


On the other side is Bill Clinton, the New Democrat, the "era of big government is over" Democrat. That he could be in the same party as Barack Obama is remarkable and truth be told, Clinton would today not fit as a Democrat. Maybe as Republican ? Don't go that far.  But both Obama and Clinton were once standard Democrat bearers. However, what does one say about President Joe Biden ? Is he so compromised, and Vice President Harris is not gaining in the polls, anymore.


When President George H.W. Bush was in trouble during his term, he recalled President Reagan to, like Clinton and Obama to rally Republicans. By that time, however, Reagan was in the initial stages of his Alzheimer's and was not up to par. It would have made no difference. In 1992, Ross Perot ran as an independent and split the Republican vote and in essence, elect Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton.


The question now will the Obama-Clinton injection have any impact on the race ? Will their collective campaigning bring wayward voters to cast for Harris in the end ? If Donald Trump is the victor next month, and proceeds to dismantle not only the Biden legacy but also those of Obama and Clinton as well, then one will know how effective Democratic name recognition has become.

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836.
