Common Sense Solutions

(Common Sense Solutions)

There was a band from the 1980's called The Thompson Twins. However, the name was not Thompson, and they were not twins. In fast, the band was a trio with Tom Baily, Alana Currie and Joe Leeway. They had a few hits off an album "Into the Gap" such as "Doctor Doctor," "Hold Me Now," and "King for a Day." Likewise, a hated phrase is "Common Sense Solutions." More often than not, the "solutions," such as they are, are seldom common much less do they make sense.

Another tired phrase is "beginning a conversation." Meaning what ? Such comments indicate that people have no idea what is going on but as long as people are talking, whether or not an actual solution is derived is not relevant. It is all a built-in delay. Then of course, there is so-called "dis/mis-information. Anything that disrupts official narrative is labeled as such.

Vice President Harris has called for common sense solutions. She has urged the beginning of conversations. And she is disputing the narrative that Governor DeSantis is not using the Milton crisis for political gain. Now, come Friday morning, by which time Milton will have moved into the Atlantic and the damage and death toll to the Sunshine State will be calculated and it was a worse case scenario, un-imaginable devastation, how would DeSantis take advantage of that ?

In the end, the cost of Milton to Florida could be as high as $175 billion if landfall is the Tampa area. If the track is further south, towards Fort Meyers, the total could fall to $70 billion. Like that is any better in the long run. Like states damaged by Helene, the two punch for Florida. Will FEMA be better prepared this time ? Will Kamala Harris be prepared ? At the moment, she and President Biden are receiving a briefing.

Whatever is learned, it will probably be worse. So, going foreword, Vice President Harris will look for common sense solutions. She will begin a conversation as to how to manage the tragedy, And she be insisting on her narrarative.
