If one were to look back over the last seven days, two personalities stand out. Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and former President Donald Trump. Netanyahu is pleased because Yahya Sinwar was "eliminated" by a drone strike. It was on film and Sinwar departed in spectacular fashion. What kind of name is Yahya ? Like someone from that "Buckaroo Banzai" movie, like John Yahya, or John Small Berries or John Big Bootie and so on. Sinwar authored the October 7th attack but, when you get down to it, Yahya is a really stupid name and never pass a chance to insult a terrorist. 


That is something that Donald Trump might say. The former President was at the Al Smith Dinner last night and did not bomb. He was quite funny at times. His opponent, Vice President Harris, sent a cringe-worthy video with Molly Shannon, a former SNL cast member (Superstar). However, one cannot really blame the Vice President because the Al Smith affair can be complicated and if one has no sense of humor, and Ms. Harris does not, then the event can be dangerous.


Winston Churchill, speaking after the British victory at El Alamein said that victory over Erwin Rommel was not the end. It was not the beginning of the end. Perhaps, it is the end of the beginning. The beginning had been October 7th and Sinwar was ended. For its part, Hamas has admitted to sustaining heavy losses. As to who might be Sinwar's replacement his brother Mohmmad has been recruited. See how long he lasts.


One of the reasons it was felt Biden had to be replaced was the threat to Democrats in down-ballot contests. However, now with Harris as the Nominee, the same effect could be in manifest now. Bob Casey is running to keep his Pennsylvania Democratic Senate seat, against Republican Dave McCormack. Casey is in the process of "moderating" his positions, even agreeing with Donald Trump on certain issues. Another example of this "migration" would be Tammy Baldwin who had also shared opinions with the former President.


That being said, the fights are not over. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's house north of Tel Aviv was targeted by a drone fired from Lebanon. Fortunately, his family were absent at the time. For his part, Donald Trump plans to work a shift at McDonald's, possibly working the fry frier. With that Big Mack or Quarter Pounder combo, having the fries made by Trump, see if they're any good.

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
