In days past, the "Greatest Show on Earth" had been the Ringling Brothers/Barnum and Baily Circus, That show folded when the elephants were discharged. As they were the main attraction, their departure signaled the end of the venue.


Donald Trump sold out Madison Square Garden last evening. As has been normal, the Arena was packed and there were several featured acts, like RFK Jr and Elon Musk, before the former President took the podium, introduced by his wife, Melania. It was a campaign speech where the deficiencies of the other ticket but began with the classic query; "Are your better off today than you were four years ago ?"


That can be answered any number of ways. However, the one that has been President during that time, Joe Biden, has been finally discarded by the Harris Campaign. The former President, the one not Donald Trump, has become a liability. Biden is only rarely on the trail and his fund-raising efforts have become anemic. However, with only eight days before the Big Day, does he still matter ?


New York is not the end of Trump's Campaign, far from it. Trump will be in Atlanta today and across other states. In related stories, a Federal Judge is ordering Virginia to re-instate some fifteen hundred non-citizen voters. Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is suing Elon Musk over his million-dollar sweepstakes for those who explicitly support the former President.


So, Republicans are facing Democratic countermeasures. It will be no walk to the White House for either candidate, but Donald Trump is the one on the path. He has been the public face to the Race. Harris, who cannot match Trump's dynamism has to rely on celebrity endorsement and Democrat Machine efforts. The question as to which path will lead to Victory will be answered November 5th.

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
