( . . .something wicked this way comes. . .)
Happy Halloween !
That is a line from Hamlet or a bad movie with Jason Robards and Royal Dano about a traveling Carnesville whose troupes bring destruction and misery to residents. They were called the Autum People. As it happens, it is autumn. And, like the arrival of the Autumn People, Election Day is only days away.
Who is the more wicked, Harris or Trump ? The media is target-fixated on Trump and all the things they think he will do. But what of the Vice President ? While Trump can work at McDonald's or ride a garbage truck, have all the good press in the world, Harris delivered her closing speech at the Ellipse, an enduring reference to January 6th.
The former President might have momentum, and the current trend is in his favor. However, Trump support is not universal as 6 prominent New Hampshire Republicans said they could not support their Party's Nominee. Republicans in recent cycles have not fared well in the Granite State. New Hampshire voters are independent to a fault and are precisely the ones who could reject a Trump candidacy.
New Hampshire voters are not alone. People who know Trump best, the ones from his last Administration, like former Vice President Pense, who certified the 2020 Election results, to then President Trump's chagrin, along with John Bolton and a few others, insist that Trump is not fit for Office. That view is consistent with an anti-Trump element that is keeping the race essentially tied.
Or Vice President Harris is ahead. She has leads in Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Granted the so-called Real Clear Politics Average is the current metric but as has been suggested, the RCP would necessarily have an in-surmountable margin of error. The numbers derived possibly do not truly reflect the true state of things. However, if the polls are accurate, and Harris does have the level of support so indicated, Election Night could be full of surprises. If polls close early, it is a good sign for Trump. If not. if ballots are still being counted into the wee hours, good signs for Harris.
Something wicked will have come.
