Happy Thanksgiving !

There had been a recent report that a typical Thanksgiving Dinner for s party of ten would come to a total of $58. Inflation might have cooled a but not quite sixty dollars for ten diners is nuts. Also, a billion dollars is supposed to go further for a campaign and not leave a deficit to the tune of twenty million. Donald Trump wrote The Art of the Deal. This seminal work from the President-Elect's previous life as a developer can describe in detail how the Vice President Harris effort was such a failure.


There has been a relationship between politics and money. Well-funded campaigns tend to prevail as they can add exposure (yield versus accuracy). That was not the case this time because all the financing in the world cannot make up for no message. Harris was necessarily hampered because she and her team could not take advantage of the elements that could have worked to her favor.


If Harris had been a failure, Trump's success is having its own consequences. He and his Cabinet selections have come under threat from bombings to swatting. The ones chosen to serve the in-coming Chief Executive and some people are not coping. Like the crowd yelled out to Lake Michigan. What they have is common. This is true for the media, and everybody else that is just exhausted.


People deserve this break in this Thanksgiving Day. If one needs it, combat gear half-off at Wal Mart. If dinner could be civil, the day also has football and the Parade. As tomorrow is Black Friday, a vibrant and prosperous Christmas shopping season can be expected. A chapter has finally been turned but Thanksgiving persists. But it probably will be more than $58.

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
