Sir Laurence Olivier narrated a series on the Second World War called The World at War. One of the episodes was titled "France Falls." In Hitler's invasion of the West began on May 10th. 1940. By the first week in June, the Germans were on the English Channel, having conquered Belgium, Holland, and France. That France could have fallen in such a short time reflected the decrepit state of the French leadership, the superiority of German weapons and tactics. The list continues. However, even though the Third Republic was destroyed, there invariably who could not accept the result. The so-called French Resistance arose and played a role in the Allied cause especially after June 6th.


Far from heroic roles in resisting the Nazis in World War II, Democrats which are still standing are self-consolidating as the New Resistance, pretending that the Trump win was not as profound as it was and they stand ready when the new President begins to begin to limit rights or establish re-education camps. Of course that is no going to happen but what the real issue is for this new band of freedom fighters is how irrelevant each of these individuals have become.


Take Governors Pritzker of Illinois or Murphy in New Jersey, Judge Juan Mechan and DA Letia James in New York and Fanny Willis in Atlanta. On the other hand, LA DA George Gascon lost his bid to stand again in office. Have these people been so out of touch, that any Trump victory was beyond any consideration of logic ? Everything they did was to constrain the now President-Elect all but enhanced his chances.


Then of course there would be the media. They alone were considered to be the vehicle to deliver Vice President Harris to the White House. Its collapse has been as profound as in the more political arenas. Commentators on the news channels like CNN or MSNBC seem surprised that the economy is so detached, Joe Scarborough hearing that butter has gone from three to seven dollars. Yeah Joe, they're made out of gold.


So, for the collective sanity for those who find themselves in Trump's America, again, get your class dismissed and all the support animals, and see the other side with 'Fight Fight Fight" mantra, remember one thing. This was as close run as it comes.

Keeping The Faith ?

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
