Matt Gaetz has withdrawn his name for Attorney General Nominee. The decision is not fortunate as there had been a Republican Senate Majority. Trump nominees, including Gaetz, should be approved. Is this going to bode well for Pete Hegseth for the Pentagon or Robert F. Kennedy Jr at HHS ? Gaetz might have had baggage and that gave wayward GOP legislators an excuse to demure. That was their free shot. For his part, President Elect Trump, while losing out on Gaetz, will still need a Gaetz-type at the Justice Department.


The Department of Treasury is the newest Nominee to be filled. As to execute Trump's own economic ideas, namely tax cuts and tariff policy. With a "friendly" Congress, he should be able to move that agenda through. There seems to be a misunderstanding, on the so-called independence pf Capitol Hill. Trump has needed team players but so far, the resistance is not only with the Democrats.


House Republicans hold an enamel thin Majority and passing Trump-centric legislation will be the test of how Congress will cooperate. The truth is that the President-Elect is an anomaly. No one else could even attempt his feat. But Hill politicians, from both Parties, do not exude any real confidence and at the end of the day, might or might not vote to pass say the tax cuts. Concerns over deficits and revenue shortfalls could sway some Members from voting with their Conference ?


It would be best for Trump if the Secretary of Treasury is picked early so he can go get that Confirmation. Like Congressman Gaetz was supposed to be, Treasury is also set to be a disrupter, one that would place Trump's seal on the Department and have his "person" in place. But that will only be the beginning. The Senate will need to give the green light so the Trump Puzzle can be assembled.


As was previously mentioned, the Senate in Republican control is a steppingstone to approval of Trump's Cabinet selections. With Matt Gaetz so removed, there should be little issue for Trump's remaining picks. But if there is, then someone has failed to read a mandate.

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
