The End Of The Business ?

(The End Of The Business ?)

President Biden made brief remarks in the Rose Garden this morning, congratulating President-Elect Trump. Biden made clear that the people had spoken and the departing Chief Executive said he will assist in the peaceful transfer of power. To have the President make those comments adopted a gracious tone, and, truth be told, he is probably relieved. Joe Biden had wanted the White House for most of his career. When President Obama tapped Biden to be his Vice President, Biden was on his desired precipice.

Obama had two terms. The anointed succession 2016 had been Secretary Clinton but Donald Trump won instead. Then in 2020 and on the timely endorsement from Congressman Clyburn (D-SC) Biden political fortunes were revived and, in collaboration with Big Media, Big Money and Big Tech, and in the midst of the covid pandemic. It was educated judgement that President Trump mis-managed the crisis and he was voted out.

But Trump came back. Once again, he stands as President-Elect and is moving to fill his Cabinet. This has been such a reversal of fortune, whereas Trump is not only returning to the White House but also has a growing GOP Majority in the Senate and, in spite of themselves, Republicans might even hold the House. One knows brooms that are less of a sweep.

Joe Biden was the Democrat champion in 2020, but that support was always conditional. President Obama himself, perhaps a witness more than most, to Biden's true condition. In that now infamous debate from last July, "convinced" Obama and then Pelosi to "encourage" President Biden to resign from the Campaign and elevate Vice President Harris to the Democrat Nomination. And people know how that turned out.

It was appropriate that President Biden to be manganous. It would appear that he is the grown up. However, he is also the one being held responsible for the Trump victory. Because the Republican Nominee is now the next Republican President, all the lawfare that had been arrayed against him is not going away. The endless complaints of misogyny and racism, how women did not vote in their "medical interest."

Trump derangement syndrome is all but a formal entry in the DSM-IV. It will be an active malady for the next four years at least. To conclude, President Biden got to the Presidency, but he was too far beyond his prime to make it work. Can a President Trump be an improvement ?
