The economic history of the Biden Administration has to be one of contrasts. Positive news, and there have been for the last four years, none of it can be attributed to any Biden policy. Nonetheless, the President was at the Brookings Institute the other day and he was bragging about economic success. To be fair, the President probably is believing his own press and really has no idea of the reality, That has been the constant for his whole Presidency. However, next month he will be gone but his economic program might endure. If Capitol Hill Republicans, House and Senate, are un-able to pass President Trump's signature item, namely the tax reform because, if it to next year, and the GOP has not acted, raising taxes for everyone regardless.


One appreciate that Republican Majorities are far from overwhelming, there is still a path forward but of the President-Elect cannot have his agenda compromised by establishment Republicans. If the Trump landslide means anything, his Hill "supporters" will need to the President some cooperation. Imagine Trump's last life as a reality star, and his "applicants" are Senate Republicans. One remembers how The Apprentice worked, after the season and eliminations of previous contestants, the winner was chosen by Trump for some un-specified role in the Trump organization. The Trump Organization now is the incoming Trump Administration and those who remain in ambivalence or opposition.


The President-Elect is not without leverage, however. His own support for the likes of Susan Collins (R-ME) or Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) or even nemesis Mitch McConnell (R-KY), where Trump can withhold his backing or even promote a Primary challenger. From the beginning, Donald Trump took over the Republican Party by a Divide and Conquer. GOP Representatives have been elected in recent cycles by supporting Donald Trump and those who had been less enthusiastic.


Trump needs to use influence to motivative his critics. He needs to assemble all Members from both Chambers to start collaborating. The window might be open but only for a short time.

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
