(Be Still & Know His Name Is Trump. . .)

In case you missed it, yesterday was Martin Luther King Day. It was also the opportunity for the outgoing President Biden, literally with minutes remaining before Trump became President himself, allowed for blanket pardons for members of his family and then pre-emptive pardons for people that Trump could target at a later date, like Liz Chaney, Anthony Fauci or Adam Schiff. A just in case scenario that has not been necessarily welcome.


This is Day One for the next Trump Administration. Already, some two hundred Executive Orders that dealt with everything from energy to immigration to DEA issues. The President has declared a "border emergency" as well as an "energy emergency." President Trump promised "shock and awe" and that might be delivering. Trump has re-instated "remain in Mexico" and wall construction resumes.


The Senate just confirmed Florida Senator Mareo Rubio as Secretary of State. Senate nods for the rest of Trump's Cabinet will be approved over the following days. The President has ordered the border closed and a whole slew of other policy changes and options. Day One and the President is moving at "warp speed." However, over the next four years, it will be sixteen hundred and forty more days.


Will this be new Golden Age the President is promising ? Will this be the constant winning for which Trump is bragging ? The President is already discussing tariffs, 25% on both Canada and Mexico. Trump confirmed basic biology in that there are only two sexes. Trump withdrew from the Paris Climate Accords, for the second time.


Donald Trump could become the first "Artificial Intelligence" President. In the sharpest contrast to President Biden whose war on fossil fuels was debilitating, President Trump will be faced that the A.I. driven data centers will require massive amounts of electricity but that amount of juice has yet to be generated. That is why there is a resurgence of nuclear energy that will have to be supplemented by an "all the above" energy policy.


As of this composition, a major infrastructure announcement was surmised to be the A.I. centers previously mentioned. The President has also been meeting with Republican Members of the House and Senate to craft the "one beautiful bill" as desired by Trump. That being said, none of these polices can be fulfilled immediately. Everything will take time. The wall will take some weeks for completion. The deportation of the millions of illegal aliens requires logistical planning.


In an opening scene to Lawrence of Arabia. in the Westminster service for Colonel T.E. Lawrence, who was killed in a motorcycle accident, Lord Allenby (Jack Hawkins) was asked for more words on Colonel Lawrence. All Allenby could say was "more words ?"

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
