That the World Economic Forum once again convened in Davos almost went un-noticed. In past years, the Forum was seen as a collection of global financial elites where it intended in conjunction with the American President Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau would implement global environmental initiatives. Davos was seen as the affliction of elites, referred here as "Davos' Syndrome."


The return of President Trump means the reversal of the Biden years and a new reaction from the World Economic Forum. Trump might address the Body. Those remaining capitalists at the Switzerland meeting might appreciate the President more but specifically, Davos is a representation of the past, A representation of old-world Europe. President Trump took a step forward into the future.


In an initiative the President has named "Stargate." That references the TV show Stargate SG-1 where week to week a team of Air Force adventurers ride wormholes generated through circular devices called "stargates" that send the traveler to destinations light years distant. The operating authority had been Stargate Command, headquartered in Cheynne Mountain. Colorado (nominally the base for NORAD as the series itself was shot in British Columbia).


The President had recruited three Big Tech CEO's; Larrry Ellison from Oracle, Sam Altman at OpenAI, and Soft Bank head Masayoshi Son. The goal is a $500 billion over four years investment to create A.I. data centers and the energy to power them. That is the story. Constructing an artificial intelligence infrastructure would only the first part. For things to work, it has to light up like the Fourth of July.


Much has been said of the Trump effect. The $500 billion AI infrastructure initiative was only lunch, the President is clearing DEI from the government. Trump is re-starting the wall and there are already reduced numbers of migrants crossing and Border Tsar Homen is already reporting ICE is securing illegal aliens for deportation.


This is only day two in the Trump Administration and terms are being thrown like so many manholes covers. Golden Age, Revolutionary, and so on. It is best to remember that this is only the second day and while Trump has been active, a lot can happen in four years.

Keeping The Faith ?

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Prime Garbage ?

(Prime Garbage ?) In the movie Down & Out in Beverly Hills , starring Nick Nolte and Richard Dreyfus, Nolte plays a Beverly Hills bum who gets taken in by Dreyfus' family. Things did not quite work out Nolte went back to the street but he wanted to take the family dog, Nolte was rummaging through some trash and telling the dog this was "prime garbage." For his part, the dog changed his mind and went back to the Dreyfus family. During the Trump event at Madison Square Garden, an opening act comedian made some remark disparaging Puerto Rico, calling it a "island of garbage." Naturally the media went to work, saying it could depress the Puerto Rican vote, especially in Pennsylvania. Then, the Island "Senator" came out and endorsed Trump.
