On February 19th, 1945, the Battle of Iwo Jima began when some 110,000 Naval and Marines assaulted the Japanese bastion. And the famous images of Marines storming Mount Suribachi to raise two American Flags on the summit, the Rosenthal picture was the second. But, like the struggle for the Island, there is conflict across all spectra. Trump and Musk are charging ahead with DOGE reductions and Democrats opposing things, attempting to make use of the Courts. Democrats are the pro-waste fraud and abuse party.


Case in point. One can believe that in a bureaucracy as large as the Social Security Administration some fraud is likely to be discovered. That billions in benefits are sent to dead people. SSA rolls have dozens of individuals that could not possibly still be alive. If those people can be purged, the savings from the Administration alone could be substantial. Maybe they're vampires ? Or aliens ? That would explain a lot.

 

It was just reported that a Jewish mother and her two young sons, hostages were lost while in Hamas' custody, The terror group has released more captives but the loss of that family accentuates the fact that the struggle needs to be ended and while President Trump had promised "all Hell" if Hamas failed to meet a deadline. As long as hostages are being accounted, Hamas' reckoning could be postponed. But its eventual elimination is assured.


Gaza will need to be rebuilt. So will the Ukraine. As this the anniversary of Iwo Jima, one of the final Campaigns of the War, what followed was the re-construction of Europe and the Pacific. For the Ukraine, President Trump has been calling President Zelensky a dictator. He is but he is only a portion. George C Marshal had been Army Chief of Staff during the Second World War and when he detached from the Service, he was made Secretary of State and authored the Marshal Plan to help Europe recover and avoid further Communist take-over.


The players have changed and what Ukraine requires is its own security guarantees and an economic relationship with the U.S. and Ukraine's own access to rare earths. The players are still Trump and Putin and whatever Ukraine "emerges" in the future, it will be an amalmulgation of Presidents Trump, Putin, and Zelenski.


The common element is President Trump. He is the center of the universe that would suit just fine. He, with Musk will cut spending, clean SSA rolls and finally kill dead people, and face Democrat opposition. He will re-build Gaza, with or without American occupation, and he will work to restore the Ukraine.


And it has been barely a month.

Keeping The Faith ?

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
