In the Allied advance across Europe during the Second World War, the Rhine River would prove the most difficult physical barrier that would have to be negotiated any drive into Germany. In the north British General Montgomery and his meticulous Operation PLUNDER was designed to put the British on the far side of the river. Further south, on March 7th, 1945, the U.S. 9th Armored entered the town of Remagen and saw that there was an intact Ludendorff Railway Bridge that spanned the Rhine. With expectation at Eisenhower's Headquarters that the crossing would not be practical for some weeks or until Montgomery was ready, a bridge would considerably accelerate the Campaign.


On this March 7th, the Remagen there are two span ends. On the west bank is what is left of the Biden Administration. The Friday jobs report while not stellar did come in below expectations. The reason President Trump is so aggressive with tariffs is that the offending countries had free rides under the former President. West Remagen is still Biden-Omics and while Wall Street is having volatility this last week, it is recovering some now (the Dow had been down close to 300 points earlier). The truth is that while 9th Armored found the Ludendorff, it still had to fight its way through the town. The spirit of President Biden endured


The 9th, once it discovered the bridge moved rapidly to secure the other side. It goes without saying that the span had been rigged for demolition, but the charges failed. First two GI's mad it across and then a company and then a battalion. A bridgehead on the far bank of the Rhine was quickly established and, once Eisenhower had the crossing, moved to flood the area, so, while Montgomery was still assembling PLUNDER, the Americans were over the River. Where President Trump is waiting.


The Trump Administration is the East Bank of the Rhine and a shortening of the "War." There is constant comment of how in mere weeks the Trump Administration had proved one of the most consequential in history, the President never misses the chance to tell people. The Trump spending DOGE cuts and everything else he would tell you.

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
